Around Christmas we got a call from our friends at Escentric Molecules as they needed to do a last minute Christmas window in Liberty, deadline in 3 weeks. The tight time limit didn't sound like an issue, but the actual job turned out to be a real challenge.
A giant SLS printed snowflake to be placed in the main display, so big that there was no machinery able to print it in the UK. By the time we realised that, we were already completely mesmerised by the project.
When we saw the 3D CAD drawing of the snowflake, it was so beautiful that we wanted to be the ones to make it a reality.
Such a piece of work deserved to shine in all of its splendour, so we utilised a really powerful bright LED sheet for each side and built our own false display at the factory hiding all the power supply. The lighting was too bright, so to knock it back somewhat, we screen printed silver onto a 3mm opal acrylic with our graphics to really set the tone, then finished it off with a lovely mirri paper window vinyl.
Everyone who's seen the window has been blown away, one acquaintance got so hypnotised by it that he got nearly run over outside the store!
